The World Championships in Nové Město have their own stamps
The nominal value of both stamps is represented by the letter "E", which corresponds to the price for a regular shipment abroad up to 50 g – European countries according to the Price List of Basic Postal Services in its current version – as of the issue date of 44 CZK.
The stamps are issued in se-tenant format, with the motif of the first one being a biathlete skiing and the second one depicting a biathlete shooting. "The main shared motif is stylized targets, which intersect on each stamp, continue onto neighboring stamps, thus creating a continuous strip," explains Matyáš Vitík, spokesperson for the Czech Post.
Under the artistic design, Filip Heyduk is signed. "Biathlon is a sports discipline characterized by speed and accuracy. And precisely these two skills inspired me to the artistic design of the stamps," adds the author.
The entire issue was printed by Tiskárna Hradištko, s.r.o., stamps in se-tenant format in 200,000 pieces (400,000 stamps) offset, and FDC by digital printing in 2,300 pieces. Interested parties can purchase the new occasional letter postage stamps at counters or in the e-shop on the Czech Post website.
The Biathlon World Championships will take place in Nové Město na Moravě from February 5 to 18, 2024.
