story

1. Head to Harus Hill

Right above Nové Město rises Harus Hill with an observation tower, offering a stunning view of the Žďár Hills. In winter, there is also a ski resort, so if you want to do some sports between races, this is a great opportunity.

2. Viewpoint at Tři kříže

A short walk to the Tři kříže viewpoint offers a beautiful panorama of Nové Město na Moravě. The weather may not be in our favor now, but at other times, you can even get here on cross-country skis. The cross-country trails in Vysočina are among the most beautiful in the Czech Republic.

3. Discover the charm of Žďár nad Sázavou and Santini’s masterpieces

Less than 10 kilometers from Nové Město lies Žďár nad Sázavou, home to a UNESCO heritage site – the pilgrimage Church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená Hora. This Baroque gem, designed by the famous architect Jan Blažej Santini, is definitely worth a visit. You can also stop by the Museum of the New Generation in the former Cistercian monastery, which presents the region's rich history in an interactive way.

4. Visit Medlov and Sykovec

If you want to enjoy peaceful nature, head to the Medlov and Sykovec ponds. These natural reserves are perfect for a short walk or relaxation by the water. In winter, you can even go ice skating on the frozen surface.

5. Vysočina Arena – more than just biathlon

The Vysočina Arena offers sports activities even outside of biathlon competitions. You can ski here yourself, as the trails will be reopened to the public after the World Cup on Tuesday, March 11.

6. A cultural stop at the Horácká Gallery

If you prefer culture, visit the Horácká Gallery, located in a beautiful Renaissance chateau in the center of Nové Město. Here, you will find exhibitions focused on the visual arts of Vysočina, including a unique collection of limewood sculptures.

7. Traditional culinary experiences

Whether you're looking for a place for lunch or want to taste regional specialties, visit one of the local restaurants. Popular spots include the restaurant at Hotel Panský dům, Sao Việt, bistro Čtyřka, Kafíno café, or Pekařství u Slonků, personally recommended by Jonáš Mareček.
