Snowmaking Almost Complete at Vysočina Arena

Vysočina Arena is almost ready for the Biathlon World Cup, which will take place from January 22 to 25. The Nové Město team is making full use of the low temperatures these days and is even replenishing snow reserves for next year.

“Temperatures are ideal, so right after the weekend youth competitions we restarted snowmaking. We need to finish snowmaking in the stadium area, where we’re still missing a bit of snow to reach ideal conditions. It’s more of a preventive measure so that we’re ready for the entire season. We’re also completing the access to the stadium, the section under the tubes, and the entire upper part of the courses. We’re no longer taking snow from the depot; on the contrary, we’re filling it up for the next season. That’s a good sign,” says race director Vlastimil Jakeš with satisfaction.

Preparations of the stadium and courses should peak over the weekend. “We’re going according to plan, maybe even slightly ahead of schedule. We were worried about a January warm spell, but instead it started to get colder. Now we’re calm,” Jakeš says, adding that the weather forecast for the coming days is also very optimistic.

On Monday and Tuesday, Vysočina Arena is closed due to intensive snowmaking and preparations, but as early as Wednesday fans will once again be able to try out the race courses. Public opening hours are listed on the Vysočina Arena website.

World stars will begin arriving in Nové Město na Moravě on Monday, January 19, when the first training is scheduled. The sixth round of the World Cup, which also serves as an Olympic test event, will kick off on Thursday, January 22, with the men’s short individual. Tickets are on sale on the BiathlonNMNM.cz website.
